Inglis HTBA May Yearling Sale

Bio

Pilkington Racing presents this gorgeous, 3yo-classic type colt by Peltzer!

WHY WE BOUGHT THIS COLT
This horse really spoke to Jack at the sales! He has a lovely loose action and is beautifully put together with great strength and good angles. His temperament was second to none as he paraded happily up and down and really showed himself off. He quickly became our favourite horse of the sale!
The HTBA sale is very much a consolidation sale for breeders at the end of the season that can provide a few diamonds in the rough – a buyers paradise! We were delighted to pick this fellow up for just $15,000! ABSOLUTE BARGAIN!
This is a pedigree Jack is already familiar with having ridden the dam’s half-sister, Smirk, for Chris Waller. She was multiple stakes places and finished 4th in the QLD Oaks.

THE PEDIGREE
Tavisocks was 3-time winner over a mile & upwards. She is by the NZ Champion Sprinter, Tavistock, who also won up to 1600m and is better known for producing classic horses such as Derby winner Tarzino, Oaks winner Toffee Tongue and the Champion Middle-Distance horse in Hong Kong, Werther. She comes from one of the best NZ staying families that is steeped in top level performers including her 2nd Dam, Smiling Like, who was crowned Champion Stayer in NZ.
Peltzer is a glorious looking horse. He has quality, strength and scope and stands at 16.1hh. He was fastest, highest-rated and most precocious two-year-old by the amazing So You Think and earned over $1m in prize-money. Trained by Gerald Ryan at Rosehill, he was undefeated in three races as a 2yo, beating a very fast horse in Anders on debut over 1000m, before going on to win a brace of races at Royal Randwick over 1200m & 1300m. As a 3yo, he continued to show his versatility over a range of distances when he blitzed them in the 1500m G2 Stan Fox, the 1600m $1m Bondi and the 1200m G3 Eskimo Prince.

THE PLAN
Following a one-week spell after the sale, this colt will arrive in the stable at the beginning of the second week of May and we can’t wait to start breaking him in! That process will last about a month, after which he will have a little more time in the paddock. We will gradually apply a little more pressure each preparation and let him come to hand as he is ready to do so. With his sire being a very good 2yo, don’t be surprised to see him hold his own against his generation as a juvenile. However, given most of his pedigree excel over a little more ground, and particularly given his style and physique, we do believe we’ll see the best of him at 3 years old, targeting the classic distances of 1500m+… Guineas and Derbys all things being well!
